CURE HBCU Program

Description

The CURE HBCU Program at Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center (DF/HCC) in Boston, MA is a full-time research training initiative for undergraduate students from HBCUs interested in a career in science. The CURE HBCU program will provide travel and housing accommodations for HBCU students to learn about cancer research while participating in the CURE Summer Only Program where they will receive mentorship from basic, clinical, population science, computational, or nursing researchers. Through their involvement in a research project, students will acquire scientific knowledge and technical skills, and increase their understanding of how to conduct biomedical cancer research.

Eligibility

  • Be a student in good standing at an HBCU
    • Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior
  • Be an US citizen or a permanent resident
  • Be at least one of the following:
    • Be from a racial or ethnic group underrepresented in the sciences (Blacks, Hispanics or Latinos, American Indians or Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders)
    • Be a first-generation college student
    • Be from an economically disadvantaged background
  • Demonstrate strong interest in science
  • Show interest in pursuing a Biomedical, biotechnology, life Science or health career
  • Be able to commit to a full-time experience
