IU-MSI STEM Summer Scholars Institute (SSI)

Description

The STEM Summer Scholars Institute (STEM SSI) is an eight-week undergraduate research program designed to recruit talented students from IU and Minority Serving Institution (MSI) partner institutions who are interested in pursuing PhDs. During the program, scholars are hosted on the core campuses: Indiana University Bloomington (IUB) and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI).

Launched in March 2007, the purpose of the STEM SSI program is to:                

facilitate substantive STEM research opportunities for MSI and IU students

provide increased access for MSI students to IU graduate programs in the STEM disciplines

encourage collaborative research between MSI and IU faculty in the STEM disciplines

enrich the academic opportunities of all the institutions through “visiting scholars” programs, faculty and student exchanges and a faculty research institute.

Eligibility

  • The STEM Summer Scholars Institute (STEM SSI) is an eight-week undergraduate research program designed to recruit talented students from IU and Minority Serving Institution (MSI) partner institutions who are interested in pursuing PhDs.
  • To be considered for the face to face 2024 Summer Scholars Institute, a completed application, and supporting documents must be submitted to the Indiana University Graduate School by Friday, March 15th, 2024. Early applicants will receive priority consideration.
