The 2024 UVa Topology REU is an in-person research experience of undergraduates, held in Charlottesville, VA and sponsored by the UVa Mathematics Geometry and Topology group's RTG grant. Participants will conduct research in groups of 3-4 under the supervision of postdoctoral scholars, on a variety of topics in geometric and algebraic topology. A number of enrichment and career development opportunities will also be provided.

This 8 week long program will run from June 3 until July 26, 2024, includes room and board, and provides a generous living stipend. Preference will be given to applicants from local and regional schools and to those who have not had research opportunities in the past, though all applications are welcome. US citizenship or permanent residence is required.

Applicants must submit a transcript, CV, personal statement (research statement on mathprograms), and two letters of recommendation.

• We are looking for students with some experience in abstract, proof-based mathematics, including some abstract algebra, real analysis, and ideally some topology.
• We will not be able to consider any applicants who are not US citizens or permanent residents.
• Participants must be enrolled undergraduates at the time of the program.
• All participants must be aged 18 or older.
