The Akridge-DeVan Family Endowed Scholarship in Education is created to honor Benita DeVan Parnell who taught English in secondary school. This scholarship is also dedicated to the memory of Christopher L. Akridge. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide an annual tuition scholarship to a full-time undergraduate student in the College of Education and Professional Studies with a 3.0 or higher GPA.

• Full-time undergraduate student in the College of Education and Professional Studies with a 3.0 or higher GPA.
• Preference will be given to students who are majoring in secondary education or hospitality and tourism management.
