Delta Air Lines Engineering Scholarship

Description

The Delta Air Lines Engineering Scholarship, valued at $5,000, is awarded to a student currently enrolled in a baccalaureate degree program in aerospace/aeronautical, electrical, or mechanical engineering. In addition to the monetary award, the scholarship includes a trip to the WAI2025 conference in Denver, which covers roundtrip airfare, hotel accommodations, and conference fees.

Eligibility

General Requirements:

  • You must be a current member of Women in Aviation International by October 1, 2024, and your membership must not expire before March 2025. You may apply for up to three scholarships.
  • Scholarships applications are only accepted through the WAI website via the new online portal.  
  • Please note the scholarship portal is independent of our website, i.e., if you are signed into the WAI website with your membership information, you will still need to register on the application portal to apply.

Once your application has been submitted, changes cannot be made to your application. All applicants must submit the following:

  • Two (one-page) letters of recommendation—letters may not be from family members
  • One 500-word essay focused on why a scholarship will help you achieve your goals
  • Resume (no more than two pages)
  • If applying for a flight training scholarship, please include copies of your aviation and medical certificates and the last three pages of your pilot logbook
  • Other information if requested for each specific award/grant/scholarship
  • These requirements are the minimum for all scholarships unless otherwise indicated.  Please read the description thoroughly to make sure you meet all requirements.

Your essay should include the following:

  • your name and contact information
  • how a scholarship will help you achieve your goals
  • other information as requested for each specific award/grant/scholarship

Resumes should include the following:

  • work history or school studies
  • any educational awards or honors
  • demonstrated involvement in aviation-related activities
  • certificates already obtained, date, and flight hours completed (if applicable)
  • Unless a scholarship description indicates that is is only available to U.S. residents, international WAI members may apply if they meet all other requirements.

ADDITIONAL SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a full-time student at the junior or senior level.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale).
  • Major Courses Required: Aerospace/aeronautical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering.
