Purpose
To promote continuing education by awarding scholarships for any course of study at institutions of higher learning. These institutions may include technical colleges, community colleges, and four-year colleges/universities. Priority will be given to a member of Friendship Baptist Church and/or the child/grandchild of a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Background
The Friendship Baptist Church Scholarship Endowment was established on October 1, 2014 to honor the memories of Deacon Paul Lawrence Quarrels who was a faithful servant for over 55 years. Deacon Quarrels transitioned July 28, 2014 bequeathing a monetary gift to the church with stipulations that the funds be used to financially assist two deserving members. The generosity of Deacon Quarrels will reach generations to come. This scholarship will honor the legacy of Deacon Quarrels for his commitment to the educational system, the community, and his many years of service to Friendship Baptist Church.
