Sponsored by Johnson & Johnson, this scholarship is awarded to high-achieving undergraduate Black students enrolled in an accredited four-year college pursuing a degree in business, STEM or health-related fields. This scholarship is open to rising juniors.

Scholarship awardees will receive a two-year, need-based scholarship in the amount of $8,000 per year to assist with educational expenses for two academic years. The scholarship will be paid directly to the awardees’ college and will be disbursed in equal amounts for the fall and spring semesters. Scholars will be required to resubmit their transcripts and meet the GPA criteria at the end of the academic year to renew the award for the subsequent academic year(s).

Selected scholarship recipients will also receive the opportunity to intern with Johnson & Johnson during the summer of the Scholar’s rising senior year.

Each scholarship program has unique eligibility requirements that candidates must meet for consideration. To meet the general eligibility criteria for an ELC scholarship candidates must:

• Be a U.S. citizen
• Identify as Black, African American, Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Latinx, or other African descent
• Enrolled in a U.S. accredited college or university
• Demonstrate financial need
• Not be a dependent of an ELC member
• Students who are currently enrolled in a community college or junior college and have been accepted to an accredited four-year college are eligible to apply for undergraduate scholarships.

Submission Requirements for Undergraduate Scholarships

• Essay: Applicants must submit well-written responses to all essay components for the Common App Essay Questions (6) and Corporate Essay Questions (2) as outlined per scholarship. (Note - Corporate Essay Questions may differ for each scholarship program.)

• Academic Transcript: Applicants must submit an unofficial academic transcript reflecting current grades with their college/university, enrollment status, and field of study. Semi-finalist applicants will be required to submit an official transcript to be considered for the award.
• Affidavit: Applicants must agree to the terms of the scholarship program.
• Recommendation Form: Applicants will submit the name and contact information for a professor, faculty, OR professional to complete a short electronic recommendation form. Supplemental Documents: Financial Aid Award Letter, Resume, Brief Biography (150 words), and Headshot Photo.
• Honors Symposium Participation: Scholarship recipients are encouraged to attend the ELC Honors Symposium, a professional development series designed for ELC Scholars. The in-person portion of the Honors Symposium will be held in October in Washington, DC.
