This scholarship was established by Mrs. Cora Compton Thomas, for the purpose of providing financial assistance to incoming freshmen students that are graduates of Spanish Fort High School.

Mr. Joseph W. Thomas, for whom the award is named, was a significant supporter of Spanish Fort High School and believed in the importance of involvement in civic and service organizations.

• Students must graduate with a minimum 3.0 High School GPA and must declare a major in Business, Finance, Political Science, or another STEM-related program.
• Applicants must also demonstrate leadership and service abilities, through their school activities and extracurricular involvement with civic, religious, or service organizations.
• Students will be expected to provide, along with their application, a letter of recommendation from the Spanish Fort High School counselor, and a resume reflecting their demonstrated leadership and service activities.
