National Garden Clubs Scholarship

Description

An annual scholarship grant of $4000 is available to college students.

National Garden Club is proud of its scholarship program, which offers financial aid to students and promotes study in Agriculture Education, Horticulture (including Fruit Science/Environmental/Communications), Floriculture, Landscape Design, Botany, Biology, Plant Pathology/Science, Forestry, Agronomy, Environmental Concerns (Management: Environmental, Horticulture Resource/Environmental Behavior, etc.), Economics, Environmental Conservation (including Engineering, Law, etc.), City (Rural & Urban) planning, Wildlife Science, Habitat or Forest/Systems Ecology, Land Management and/or other related or allied subjects.

In addition to the required majors to qualify, the student must be pursuing a career related to gardening, landscape design, environmental issues, floral design or horticulture.

Applicants must have sophomore or higher standing and be a legal resident of Montana even if attending an out of state school. Applications must be received by Mrs. Brady before February 1 each year. Recipients are announced in May.

Eligibility

Ineligible Applicants:

  • International or Foreign Exchange Students
  • Doctoral program students, except under certain conditions and by approval of the NGC Scholarship Chairman
  • Study abroad on fellowships or internships

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Legal Resident of the United States
  • Must be attending school full-time or as defined by NGC:
  • Undergraduate students must be enrolled for a minimum of 12 graded hours of classes
  • Graduate students must be enrolled for a minimum of 6 graded hours of classes
  • Funds may be applied to studies overseas provided that the study is a condition of the recipient’s degree plan and that payment continues to be made to the accredited U.S. college or university
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Must be planning a career related to gardening, landscape design, environmental issues, floral design, or horticulture
  • Previous applicants may re-apply (whether awarded or not)
  • Must be majoring in one of the following fields of study: Agronomy, Agriculture Education, Floriculture, Horticulture, Landscape Design, Botany, Biology, Forestry, Wildlife Science, Plant Pathology/Science, City (Rural & Urban) Planning, Habitat or Forest/Systems Ecology, Environmental Concerns (Management: Environmental, Horticulture Resource/Environmental Behavior), Environmental Conservation (including Engineering, Law, etc.), Land Management and/or other related or allied subjects.
