Paul B. Richards Memorial Scholarship

Description

During his thirty years of service to the construction industry of New York State, Paul Richards, former Managing Director of the General Building Contractors of NYS (formally the NYS Building Division of the AGC NYS), earned the respect of all with whom he worked by his dedication to the AGC ideals of Skill, Integrity and Responsibility. In memory and appreciation for Paul’s excellent service and leadership and for his strong commitment to education, the Paul B. Richards Memorial Scholarship was endowed in 1987 by the Membership of the GBC. Each year, $2500 scholarships in Paul’s name are presented to deserving young men and women pursuing undergraduate degrees in construction-related fields who show a real interest in pursuing a career in the construction industry. Since 1987 the scholarship has awarded over $347,000 in awards.

Applications are accepted each fall, and a committee rates each student based on career major, high school and first year college grades, work experience and personal references. When applying for a Paul B. Richards Scholarship you are also eligible for over 100 additional scholarships offered through the AGC Education and Research Foundation. Applications are available for download beginning in late summer. The Application Deadline is November 1 of each year and is payable the following Fall. Scholarships will be a maximum of $2,000 per student per year and will be renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study in civil engineering or construction management or technology. These applications are completed online and are available beginning in August each year and are due by November 1.
